In February 2019, at the age of 50 and armed with over three decades of experience, Scott Ashworth laid the foundation for Ashworth Group. Forming alliances with former colleagues and associates from his extensive career, the company embarked on its journey by specializing in concrete placement and finishing.
As the demand for our services grew, so did our commitment to meeting our clients' evolving needs, eventually expanding our offerings to encompass turnkey project solutions. In our early days we were fortunate to encounter remarkable opportunities, and we remain deeply appreciative of the individuals who extended their support, both then and now, fueling our continuous growth.
Scott Ashworth began his construction journey in Charleston, West Virginia, during his high school years while attending building construction classes at the Carver Career and Technical Center. After high school, he served in the Army Reserves. Scott initially delved into roofing but soon transitioned to masonry. Seeking new opportunities, he relocated to North Carolina in 1988 to work with a local concrete contractor. Over 7 years, he honed his skills as a Carpenter, followed by 16 years as a Superintendent and 7 years as a manager. At 36, he pursued higher education, attending night courses to earn an Associate’s degree in Applied Science (Construction Management). Scott's commitment to education was evident through his numerous certifications, including two Master Craftsman Certifications, 5 ACI Certifications, and Face Certification for Floor Flatness testing. Scott remains an advocate for continuous learning, an attribute that has greatly contributed to his personal and professional growth. With four brothers, John, David, Bruce, and Todd, who also work in the trade, Scott's professional and personal growth was nurtured through the unique blend of physical and mental challenges that are integral to the construction industry.
In late 2021, the company welcomed Jose Cecilio Gonzalez as the Vice President of Operations. Known fondly as "the man, the myth, the legend," Cecilio made his journey to the USA in 1993, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise. With over three decades of collaboration, Scott and Cecilio collectively offer an extensive reservoir of concrete knowledge. Cecilio's mastery in formwork, encompassing brands like Symons, Peri, Doka, and Meva, showcases his remarkable skills and dedication. Throughout the years, Cecilio has consistently proven himself as a prominent leader in the industry, exemplifying his unwavering competence and reliability.
